Finding Your Place at Prairie Rose

At Prairie Rose Schoolhouse, we believe that there is not "one right way" to learn.

Children are naturally curious. They want to understand how things work, make meaningful contributions, and discover what they are capable of. They thrive when learning is connected to real life, when relationships matter, and when they have the freedom to explore, create, question, and grow.

Our programs are designed to create that kind of learning environment—one where academics meet meaningful work, learning extends beyond the classroom, and each child is known, supported, and encouraged to grow.

Whether your family is looking for a full-time educational experience, a place to enrich your homeschool journey, or individualized support for your learner, there is a place for you at Prairie Rose.

Full-Time Microschool Program

A different way to learn.

Our Full-Time Microschool offers a complete educational experience for families seeking an alternative to the traditional school setting.

Students attend Tuesday through Friday in a small, mixed-age learning community where academics are woven together with project-based learning, homestead experiences, outdoor exploration, and real-world learning.

Core academic learning takes place alongside meaningful work that invites students to create, build, explore, solve problems, and discover how their learning connects to everyday life.

Fridays take learning beyond the schoolhouse through our Community Exploration experiences. Depending on the week, students may visit the library, explore a local trail, connect with a farm or business, serve the community, visit a museum, or participate in other hands-on experiences that connect learning with real people and real places.

The Full-Time Microschool includes:

  • A complete academic program

  • Small, mixed-age learning community

  • Individualized learning goals and support

  • Project-based and hands-on learning

  • Homestead and practical life experiences

  • Outdoor exploration and nature-based learning

  • Community Exploration Fridays and field experiences

  • Student portfolios and reflection

  • Learning goals and student-led conferences

  • Daily Morning and Closing Meetings

Best for families who:
Are looking for an alternative to traditional school and want their child to experience a small, relationship-centered learning community where academics and real-world learning come together.

Part-time Homeschool Enrichment

Making Connections.

Homeschool Enrichment is designed for families who want to maintain primary responsibility for their child's education at home while adding the connection, community, and hands-on experiences of Prairie Rose Schoolhouse.

Students join us for three scheduled enrichment sessions each week, participating in collaborative projects, hands-on learning, STEAM experiences, and meaningful work alongside other learners.

Students also participate in our Friday Community Exploration experiences, giving homeschoolers opportunities to learn beyond the home and connect with their local community.

Families can tailor their homeschool experience to their child's needs while knowing they have a supportive learning community to turn to.

Homeschool Enrichment includes:

  • Three scheduled enrichment sessions each week

  • Small-group, hands-on learning

  • Collaborative and project-based experiences

  • STEAM and creative exploration

  • Homestead and practical life experiences

  • Community Exploration Fridays and field experiences

  • Connection with a small learning community

  • Optional portfolio and learning goal support

Best for families who:
Love the flexibility of homeschooling but want their child to have more opportunities for community, collaboration, hands-on learning, and real-world experiences.

Individualized Tutoring

Personalized support for growing learners.

Sometimes a student simply needs a little extra time, targeted support, or a different approach to help learning click.

Prairie Rose Schoolhouse offers individualized tutoring for students enrolled in Prairie Rose programs as well as students learning through other educational settings.

Tutoring is tailored to each student's individual needs, strengths, interests, and goals. Sessions may focus on strengthening academic skills, providing targeted intervention, building executive functioning and study skills, or extending learning through enrichment and challenge.

Our goal is not simply to help students complete their work. We want to help learners understand how they learn, build confidence in their abilities, and gradually become more independent.

Tutoring may support:

  • Reading

  • Writing

  • Mathematics

  • Academic intervention

  • Executive functioning

  • Organization and study skills

  • Homework and assignment support

  • Learning strategies

  • Enrichment and extension

Best for families who:
Are looking for individualized academic support, targeted intervention, enrichment, or a trusted learning partner who can meet their child where they are and help them grow.
